Kate McDermott, DPT

Kate graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts in 2013. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Simmons College. Kate came to Neuroworx as a third year DPT student for her final clinical rotation and was hired as a full-time Physical Therapist in August 2013. 

Kate has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2010 and is an APTA Certified Clinical Instructor. Her poster presentation The Clinical Application of Biofeedback Gaming as an Intervention and Assessment tool in Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury was accepted to the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (ASCIP) annual conference in 2016. She has also participated in the NeuroRecovery Network (NRN) during her time at Neuroworx.

She has taken courses in Kinesiotaping and various mind body techniques. While in PT school, she worked as a certified GYROTONIC® instructor with elite athletes and performing artists. Kate leads adaptive yoga classes for the wellness program at Neuroworx.

Kate has a background as a competitive figure skater. She has won national titles with her former ice dancing partner and has represented the United States in competitions internationally. Kate has finished 6 marathons and qualified for the Boston Marathon. She also enjoys downhill skiing, mountain biking, hiking and yoga.
